Aiayu
Danish Aiayu's journey began in Bolivia back in 2005. Here, founder and creative director, Maria Høgh Heilmann, traveled to and met a local yarn producer who had developed a groundbreaking technique for producing the finest llama wool. It was the start of a unique collaboration that meant that they jointly established the first knitting factory in the country. The factory was the first in the region to implement a water recycling system that cleans 100% of the wastewater and recycles 75%. All processes, from spinning to dyeing and knitting, are handled in-house to ensure full transparency. Bolivia has since been the foundation of Aiayu's responsible production model. Today, the same Bolivian yarn producer from 2005 is still Aiayu's longest partner, reflecting their commitment to long-term and trusting relationships.
