THE LITTLE BLACK HOUSE IN POGESTRÆDE
The shop was founded in 1994 by the couple Jacob and Stine Larsen. The name dr. Adams comes from Stine's father, who ran the shop 'Adam'. Right back in the beginning, they made a radio commercial where it was mentioned that the doctor here cured bad style - and that is why the name dr. Adams was chosen. Jacob and Stine have always had a penchant for the unique and for what differs from the norm - which reflects the entire DNA of dr. Adams. Presence and the personal relationship with the customer have been in focus since the start.

THE PUSHER EFFECT
After the premiere of the movie 'Pusher' in 1996, Jacob and Stine really started to get busy in the store. People were eager to get their hands on the Carhartt Workwear jacket that Mads Mikkelsen wears in the movie – and Jacob and Stine had that jacket in stock. This is where people really got their eyes on dr. Adams. As a result, in 1998 they decided to expand the store and took over the premises that we know today as the Women's Department.

EXPANSION
The store grew, and Jacob and Stine were no longer just the two of them. They had hired more people to their small team in Pogestræde. The store was doing well, and in 2008 they decided to expand once again and took over the premises that we know today as the Men's Department.

Jacob and Stine were faced with a choice: Should they open a store somewhere else in Denmark, or should they focus on opening their own webshop? They agreed that a new store would not feel the same without their daily presence. Their personal involvement in the store is a big part of dr. Adams. That's why they chose to open the webshop instead in 2011.

25TH ANNIVERSARY
In June 2019, it was exactly 25 years ago that dr. Adams opened its doors for the first time. Of course, this was to be celebrated with those who have been on the journey - and it was! A pop-up print store was opened, where people could have quotes and illustrations printed on their dr. Adams-totebag. The patio was filled with coziness, beer, hotdogs, DJ and lots of good atmosphere.

30 YEARS WITH DR. ADAMS
On June 4th, dr. Adams celebrated its 30th anniversary. It was celebrated with all employees, partners and friends of the house. It was a fantastic day with a long table dinner, a collaboration with Nørgaard Paa Strøget and Sunflower, and the launch of Team Adams' very own 'Fyn Guide'. The patio was open and the mood was high.
